Why should I cleanse my crystals?
Crystals have natural vibrations which are believed to heal our mind body and soul. We cleanse all our crystals before they leave us, but they will encounter many new environments on their journey to you, so it is best to give them a cleanse and charge once they enter your home.
And when used for healing, these stones are said to absorb or redirect the negativity you’re working to release. So it is a good idea to cleanse them every now and again.
1. Selenite Charging plates & BOWLS.
A natural cleanser and charger, placing your stones on a slice of selenite, in a selenite bowl or plate, will naturally cleanse and charge your crystals. Pop them over night next to your bed, and it also is a cute way to keep them all together and safe.
Use this for: All crystal types.
2. Quartz Charging Plates & GEODES
Quartz is also powerful healer and cleanser. Known as a "Master Healer" Quartz has been known to amplify other crystal energy. Placing your gemstones inside a large geode will dissipate all ions and charge your gemstones. Although many people don't own enormous geodes to do this! Using Quartz or Rose Quartz plates, placing your crystals on top of them like the selenite plates will charge your gemstones and get them ready for use again!
3. Running water.
Approximately 1 minute under running water.
If you can use fresh water or sea water, this is even better.Salt has been used throughout history to absorb unwanted energy and banish negativity.
If you’re near the ocean, consider collecting a bowl of fresh salt water. Otherwise, mix a tablespoon of sea, rock, or table salt into a bowl of water.
Make sure that your stone is completely submerged, and allow it to soak for a few hours to a few days’ time. Rinse and pat dry when complete.
Use this for: Solid Crystals like Quartz
Do not use for: Selenite, gypsum, kyanite, malachite, tourmaline unpolished. Be careful when washing fibrous stones and natural stones.
4. Brown rice weirdly!
This method can also be used to draw out negativity in a safe and contained setting. It’s especially beneficial for protective stones, such as black tourmaline.
To do this, fill a bowl with dry brown rice and bury your stone beneath the grains. Dispose of the rice immediately after the cleansing, as the rice is said to have absorbed the energy you’re trying to eradicate.
Approximate duration: 24 hours
Use this for: any stone
5. Sage/Palo Santo/Incense.
Sage & Palo Santo are sacred plants and used for cleansing and dispersing negativity.
Smudging your stone is said to clear inharmonious vibrations and restore its natural energy.
You’ll need:
a firesafe bowl
a lighter or matches
loose or bundled sage
If you’re unable to smudge outdoors, make sure you’re near an open window. This will allow the smoke and negative energy to disperse.
When you’re ready, ignite the tip of the sage with the flame. Transfer the sage to your nondominant hand and firmly grasp your stone and move it through the smoke.
Allow the smoke to envelop the stone for about 30 seconds. If it’s been a while since your last cleansing — or you feel the stone is holding onto a lot — consider smudging for an additional 30 seconds.
Approximate duration: about 30 to 60 seconds per stone
Use this for: any stone
6. Sound healing.
Use a Sound bowl or spiritual music. This method is ideal for collectors who have a large volume of crystals not easily inventoried or moved.
Approximate duration: 5 to 10 minutes
Use this for: any stone
