Metaphysical Tradition
Until the early 20th century, orpiment was widely used in medicine as a purgative and to treat infections.  According to current metaphysical beliefs, orpiment speeds recovery from disease and imparts direction and a sense of purpose to aid in the understanding and removal of mental blocks.

CAUTION: 
Caution sould be taken when handling or working with Orpiment. Although safe in its polished form, the rough material has toxic elements contained. Therefore when in rough or powder form this mineral can leave toxic traces of arsenic.
If broken, the piece may have exposed fibres of the stone so is best to be dispoised of or not handled. Additionally, avoid placing it in your pockets as traces can attach to your clothes, wash your hands and handle with care.
